It’s been a while, and I thought I should give a quick update. I know it might seem like it, but I haven’t fallen off the face of the Earth. I’m still putting words on the page, but as I’m completing my latest novel, it has been taking all my attention and free time.
So, my first update is the Son of the Mourning, Book 2 of the Absolution of the Morning Star series, is just about done. Currently, it’s at about 124,000 words, and I think I have 3-5 more chapters before the first draft is complete! I hope to bring it home at about 150,000 and do this over the holidays. This would make my goal of having the story done by the New Year. I have these chapters planned out in my mind, it’s just a matter of getting them down on the page. Then, I will begin my favorite part of the novel crafting process and start the 1st read-through and story edits. This is where I check the story’s consistency, flow, and add all those little details that make the tale pop. Even before starting that, I know I need to break up some information dumps and add a bit more action in places, so the writing still has a ways yet, but we’re getting there! After that, it will be my least favorite part, and that is the close editing for grammar and such… ugh. But we won’t worry about that now. Keep an eye out for the second installment of Erikson’s tale around the end of January!
Secondly, for a limited time (until December 24th), all three of my ebooks are just $0.99 for the holidays! This includes Dawn of the Lightbearer, an epic dark fantasy, The Slaying of the Bull, a historical fantasy set during the Mongol invasion of Europe, and the Island of Stone, a paranormal mystery set on an isolated island. I’ve run promotions before with mediocre results, but I felt festive and thought, why not? Check them out, and if you like them, please leave a review. They really help (they’re also a nice Christmas gift for a struggling author).
Well, that’s it for now. I hope you all have just an absolutely splendid holiday season!
Cheers!
Sounds promising — that’s great! And a Happy Christmas to you, Scott.

Sounds like about 600 pages, right? You definitely have stamina to put together a book – and especially one that size!!
Wishing you all the very best with it!

I missed the promotional- but the Slaying of the Bull sounded interesting so I ordered it and am looking forward to its arrival. I hope you got those last chapters done and enjoyed your holidays

Thanks! I hope you enjoy it! As it is January 1 and I’m still not done with my current book, I missed my goal, but it will be close. Cheers!
